I've only just Arch today after mostly being a Windows user for the past 10 years and Ubuntu essentially GUI only for the last 3, and so far it's working mostly fine; I've gotten everything set up OK, including dwm, general setup and the lot. However I'm having trouble with my wifi connection.
It will work fine for the first few minutes after boot. After 5 or 10 minutes seemingly made shorter by downloading stuffit will drop out completely. I have confirmed that this is not an issue with the router:. I'm not too sure what the issue actually is, and I'm not too acquainted with Arch yet, so I've gotten some information which seems appropriate.
Any suggestions? If you need any more log data or anything, I can provide it. This is a brand new installation of arch, so I don't think anything is outdated.
This hasn't happened since the last restart though and I can't seem to make it do so. Welcome to the forums. It is highly unlikely netctl causing this, more likely it is the wireless module for your card which still gets a lot of updates with each new kernel.
You might want to edit the header of your thread to include your wireless module "rtlcu" to get attention of users of it I am not and search the forums for relevant threads I have not.
If you believe it is indeed netctl, post the profile you are using to connect masking out the passphrase. Hi, thanks for the response! Enabling software encryption seemed to have no effect. I synced the crda packages as it appeared I didn't have them but that also had no effect.
It seems to have worked to some degree as the cu kernel module is present. Previously the interface thing was called wlp0s4f1u6now it is enp0s4f1u6 which suggests to me that it is being misidentified as an ethernet device. Looking at dmesg it says 'Link is not ready'. I suspect I may have missed a step in the installation, but the package comes with no readme or anything as it probably shouldn't.
Do I need to do anything with dkms after running makepkg? You cannot run both at the same time, probably the "operation not permitted" results from that. To try the module from AUR you must unload the generic rtlcu first, which you can only do after you bring the interface down. I think I've worked out part of the problem. I have already blacklisted the rtlcu driver from being loaded both by putting it into a.
I've tried every method I've found so far to try and stop rtlcu from being loaded but it's still sticking around I suspect the presence of rtlcu is stopping something else from loading. Your help so far has been great by the way, thanks for helping me to sort this out. Besides this wifi issue, literally everything else is working great! You're welcome, sounds you are getting the grips with Arch which is great.
To test whether the AUR package works better, maybe just do what he has done move the original module directory out the way, reinstall the package from Aur. Still not working I'm afraid. I think the still-present rtlcu is just the device firmware, as on my Raspberry Pi which works fine with the cu module and the same dongle shows the same thing in dmesg.Keep in touch and stay productive with Teams and Officeeven when you're working remotely. Okay so due to the short range of my brother in law's router I was forced to get a wifi adapter etekcity It worked perfectly the first month, but one day when I started my computer it turned off, then back on, and off again. It just kept happening about every second. I assumed it was a loose wire and bought another one because I was already sick enough of fixing wifi problems.
The same exact problem occurred with a new adapter. I then found someone with the same problem who said he solved it by disabling 'selective suspending' under USB Settings in the power plan advanced options.
It didn't initially do anything. I then tried another way of disabling them by using registry codes. I even refreshed windows reinstalling windows and it still did not change anything. I am waiting on an external hard drive to get here so I can back up all of my data before I completely factory reset my computer, hoping everything will default again. My on board adapter works fine but doesn't pick up wifi from my room. I think that my computer, for some random reason, started suspending my USB ports.
It doesn't matter what USB port I plug my adapter into, it still does the same exact thing. On and off.
From the issue description, I understand you are facing an issue with Wi-Fi-adaptor, your WI-FI adapter turns on and off automatically. Wi-Fi networks are commonly found in public spaces like coffee shops, bookstores and libraries, and also in private spaces like homes and offices. Wireless networking offers several advantages over wired networking, including the ability to surf the Internet without being restricted by cables. If you can't get onto your Wi-Fi network or experience problems like slow speeds, troubleshoot your network connection to help resolve common underlying problems.
The Network Adapter troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the adapter in the computer for any known issues and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter. Check in Windows updates if any driver updates are available. If so, install the same and check if it helps. You can check this Microsoft Article below which will let you know how to fix network adapter problems.
You can also check this Microsoft article which will let you know about Wired and wireless network problems. Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. From what I know I did not update or change anything. Just one day when I turned my computer on it started this. I cannot run any sort of diagnosis because it doesn't have enough time to recognize my wifi adapter is there when I have it plugged in it will only stay on for barely a second before disconnecting and connecting again.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled both of my on-board drivers and my wifi adapter driver multiple times. I just checked for windows updates and I am up to date on everything despite reinstalling windows; it auto installed updates I guess. Like I said I'm assuming this has something to do with turning the power off to the USB, because I cannot find anything else wrong with it.Keep in touch and stay productive with Teams and Officeeven when you're working remotely.

No problems at all. Since upgrading clean install to Windows 10 Pro, the adapter keeps dropping the connection under load and apparently having to be reset. Occasionally it disappears completely and I have to unplug and re-insert the USB cable. I also tried installing manually the TP-link Windows 8.How To Fix wifi is not Connecting and Not Working on my laptop windows 10
I'm not interested in hearing that this is a "manufacturer problem" or that I should buy a new adapter. Windows 10 should work with existing hardware supported by qualifying OS versions, especially as MS are so keen for users to upgrade. Is there anything I can do event log etc. Maybe I can change one of the advanced settings of the device to prevent this happening? Failing that, it would be nice if MS could look into providing or getting Realtek to provide an updated driver that doesn't do this.
Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. I regret the inconvenience caused to you. Let me help you. This issue might occur if the device settings are incorrect, corrupted or incompatible drivers or due to hardware problems.
I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps provided in the below Microsoft article and check if it resolves the issue. Fix network connection issues. As a work around, Download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer website and check if it helps. If the issue persists, install the drivers for Windows 7 in compatibility mode and check if it helps.
If a program or driver written for an earlier version of Windows doesn't run properly in current Windows, then you could try using compatibility mode on the program to hopefully allow it to run properly.
Follow the below steps:. Right click on the program icon, click on Properties. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box and select the Preferred Windows. Click on Apply and click OK button. Please post back with the status of the issue and we will be glad to assist you further. Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. There are no onscreen error messages.
The adapter simply disconnects from the router and then reconnects after a few seconds. It's not a hardware problem - the same adapter was running fine on the same PC under windows 7. The problem only occurs since I installed Windows This happens when connected to either of my wireless routers from two different manufacturers and connections don't seem to last much longer than a couple of minutes at most, often less than a minute.

I have tried to install the realtek drivers from the realtek site but I had a couple errors with the install. I have the output somewhere if it is needed. I would appreciate your assistance in fixing this. There may be a question already solving this but I have tried fixes over the past 2 days and none worked.
You might want to check out this thread. I checked three different boxes and all had the same issue. I had however no issues with the one AP that had N-draft support. But I was not even able to ping default gw.

To do so I had to install the Realtek drivers for wireless card rtlce from the Realtek website. Advice from some previous posts suggested running the wireless info script. The results from the script are linked here.
The script was run while attached to the internet via ethernet, which works well. If you would like me to run the script again while connected to wireless I can do that.
I have a Thinkpad xe which uses this driver rtlce and when I installed Ubuntu From a post on the Arch Boards I found a fix. The problem is apparently with powersaving features of the driver, specifically ips link power save and fwlps presumably firmware power save. These are enabled by default. You will need to be root to do this.
Then reboot and hopefully you'll have a stable WiFi connection. Incidentally I'm using a newer kernel from kernel. I have a lenovo Ts with drivers rtlce running ubuntu Had same exact issues. Pinging a local server on the LAN would return 50ms and every 10 seconds or so it would jump to even Every 10 minutes or so, it would just disconnect.

Did you put Code:.By ChristosOctober 21, You have to build kernel driver from provided sources. In my opinion not worth the hassle, I dumped such dongle and bought another. The dongle came with a CD containing linux driver sources, a SDK for it, so if you have any pointer on how to add this myself, then I could give it a shot. Also, which Mbps dongles do work with Armbian? I do have cu Mbps dongles that are configured and work just fine, but do need now the extra bandwidth of the All of these dongles are The cu based on specs go up to Mbps and eu to Mbps, the protocol itself and its theoretical limit is another story.
What you forgot to mention is the actual current medium congestion where in rural areas and appartment buildings with lots of devices in the vicinity, achieving high speeds is dificult. I kinda know all these things.
So if anyone can propose such a device would be great. Or just to give me a pointer on how to integrate in Armbian a new driver. I also have one of those cheap EU dongles. Driver is a little pain in the back for all platforms.
In Windows, official driver installs but no signs of work, i had to deeply dig internet for correct driver and then it works fine, with real Mbit speed and descend range.
I have no idea if it can be installed on Armbian. But doesn't have a chance to test it, because the cheap thing, mechanically break, losing it's front metal cover and i lost enthusiasm to deal with it. Wasting another few hours of your life googling for 'eu cu ap mode' and stuff like that? Most probably to realize that the only place on earth where this works are seller pages on Aliexpress?
Googling for 'problem or issue ' results in 3, hits. BTW: No offense at all, I just want to produce stuff for search engines so that people realize that crappy Wi-Fi dongles are crappy Wi-Fi dongles prior to purchase and not after.
You will need hostapd version specific for eu module. I've just tested compiling it and it does compile. Not sure if it will work. Please try and let me know. Then follow this guide to setup and launch hostapd. Tried the compile and got it through, yet I could not start the produced hostapd even though tried quite a few config variations.
